As the lead developer of radars for some of the most advanced systems in the U.S. arsenal, Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems is a world leader in advanced radar systems and design. These include radars for the F-22, Joint Strike Fighter, F-16, B1-B, AWACS, MESA, G/ATOR and UAV systems such as Global Hawk.
Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems is seeking electrical engineers, physicists, mathematicians with air to surface radar systems engineering training/experience including Synthetic Aperture Radar/Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR/ISAR), ground moving/maritime moving target indication (GMTI/MMTI), space time adaptive processing (STAP), adaptive beamforming, requirements analysis & flow-down, performance estimation, integration and test. Other desired experience includes SAR and GMTI exploitation including coherent change detection (CCD), interferometric SAR (IFSAR), motion compensation & GPS/INS, tracking, Kalman filtering. Most desirable are candidates with 5 - 10 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities include: defining system-level requirements, carrying out trade studies, defining system architectures, designing and developing operating concepts and processing algorithms, carrying out performance projections analysis, system integration and performance testing, as well as developing simulations on state-of-the-art computers. Development activities include design of signal processing algorithms, generation of system/subsystem specifications (including for high technology hardware such as Active Electronically Scanned Antennas, wide band receivers, and advanced on-board processors), design and analysis followed by integration and test to verify system performance.
Basic Qualifications: BS, MS, or PhD in EE or related Engineering discipline, Physics, or Mathematics. Must have at least a DOD SECRET clearance. 5 yrs minimum relevant Radar Systems Engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have as a minimum a Secret clearance, but higher clearances are desirable including Top Secret and SCI.
Common Job Description
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
