Transforming the future of technology… Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Senior Telecommunication Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Baltimore, MD. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Infrastructure Team. The Engineer will report to Customer Technical Manager on the Division of Network Engineering and is responsible for all activities required for the successful completion of assigned projects and tasks. Responsibilities include network planning, vendor oversight, network and voice performance management, creation of processes and procedures for the network implementation side of an enterprise-wide Voice over IP Project with hundreds of sites and thousands of users.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Review engineering activities associated with the planning, analysis, operation and maintenance, network upgrade preparation for the Voice over IP project.
* Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation of all Severity 1 (SEV-1) outages
* As necessary, provide support for after hours cutovers, problem identification, problem resolution, periodic maintenance, and all work associated with change management procedure.
* Oversee, and manage change control procedures for implementation team
* Plan and perform disaster recovery exercises
* Review and suggest improvements for the architectural design, performance, and integration of the network infrastructure as the enabler for the VoIP systems.
* Serve as the customer technical point-of-contact for the program
* Oversee and validates all testing of the networking solutions prior to the solutions being placed into production and ensures that the solutions meet all program technical requirements.
* Monitors the overall performance of the network as related to VoIP rollout/implementation for capacity planning purposes.
* Work with the programming team to ensure that site implementation and MAC are completed on schedule with the highest quality.
* Work with all key stake-holders to drive process improvement throughout the program
* Prepare and provide network Capacity and Performance reports
* Prepare and provide Operational Performance reports
* Monitors all switch and network equipment/licenses for critical triggers for growth
* Submit network hardware/license requests to network engineering for augmentation
* Track orders/requests through delivery and acceptance
* Interfaces with, and assists, technicians in acceptance of transmission facilities
* Support the VoIP team to insure that network reliability and availability measurements are met
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
* BA/BS engineering degree or equivalent experience (can include a combination of VoIP/Voice Network Capacity Planning/Performance and Engineering experience); (12 years experience with Bachelor's degree)
* 5 years of related experience of Network Capacity planning and Performance reporting
* Network performance and measurement skills and experience with Capacity and Performance Support tools
* In depth knowledge of Quality of Service (QoS) functionality in an exclusively Cisco network.
* In depth knowledge of data network equipment such Cisco Catalyst switch and Cisco routers.
* Knowledge of Telecom Traffic Engineering statistical techniques. Proficient use of the Telecom statistical parameters (BHCA, CCS, Erlangs, etc.) to measure current usage and forecast growth requirements
* Knowledge of ACD Routing and Reporting, Call Accounting Application is desirable
* Knowledge of Nortel DMS100/CS1K, MPS500, UM2K, Juniper Firewall, Spirent performance measurements is desirable
* Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust designation
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
* CCIE in Routing/Switching or CCIE in Voice desired
* CCNP and CCVP and Nortel Manufacturer Certification and or Advance Product Experience is required
* Excellent interpersonal and strong written and verbal communication skills
Security Clearance Required.
