Perform Software System Safety tasks in support of Global Hawk flight safety. This requires a logical and systematic approach to problem solving to identify, track, and control potential software safety hazards that may impact the safety of personnel or equipment. Experience in coding, debugging, testing, and verification is required, as well as a demonstrated knowledge of each stage in the Software Life Cycle process, including supporting standards, procedures, plans and documentation. Responsibilities include performance of Software Hazard Analysis, including review of software requirements specifications, change requests, peer reviews, and desk checks. Also, support Engineering Review Boards and anomaly investigations, as required. Experience in full life cycle software development for safety-critical embedded systems written in C or C++ is required, as well as experience using the methods identified in MIL-STD-882. Familiarity with Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), RTCA DO-178B, and IEEE 1228 is a plus. The ideal candidate would possess a basic knowledge of military aircraft concepts and operations. Candidates should have strong technical writing skills, as well as a BS in Engineering or Mathematics with at least nine years applicable experience.
