The Quality Engineer will define and monitor mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. S/He performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements as well as assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance. Individual will report to the Mission Assurance Manager. This position is based out of San Diego, CA. Candidates must be able to deploy on 4-6 month rotational overseas assignments.
The selected individual works in partnership with program teams under the supervision of the Mission Assurance Lead on the program to provide independent oversight of the program execution with the focus on achieving total mission success and meeting or exceeding customer expectations. S/He supports implementation of Mission Assurance processes, including quality assurance, supplier quality, and independent assessments and reviews. Assures implementation of program processes such as program management and risk management. Implements aircraft safety and reliability, availability, and maintainability programs.
S/He performs quality assurance product audits/verifications, process compliance audits, physical configuration audits, and functional configuration audits. Participates in Configuration Change Board, Metrics Working Group, Causal Analysis and Resolution Working Group, and other Mission Assurance Working Group assignments. Supports requirements tractability, monitors/witnesses software/systems tests, participates in peer reviews and formal customer reviews. Ensures effective evaluation of incidents and failures to understand root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Keeps management apprised of Mission Assurance assessment of program status, customer satisfaction, and risks (programmatic, financial, and technical) that might affect program performance, Applies hazards and safety analysis techniques to actual and predictable interacting activities of military, governmental or business systems to obtain credible lists of potential hazards as candidates for mitigation.
The selected individual contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. She will have frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. This individual will represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
The following are basic qualifications:
BA/BS (or 5 years equivalent experience) in Engineering, Quality related field, plus 5 years experience with project disciplines (quality assurance, aircraft safety, software/systems engineering and risk management). Experience with Six Sigma, ISO 9001/AS9100, FAA certifications, SEI CMM/CMMI assessments. Exposure to SAP and QM activities and process and production test tools. Experience in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Power Point, Excel, and Project).
