SR UNIX Administrator – 188509
We are seeking a SR UNIX System Administrator with a Solaris and Linux-based technical background to participate in the installation, configuration, evaluation and prototyping of Information Assurance and Cross Domain solutions that include UNIX in their configuration. Position is located in Washington, DC and convenient to Metro.
Roles and responsibilities will include:

Install, Configure and Maintain Solaris and Linux-based systems
Monitor and report system performance and assist with the evaluation of the reliability, availability, and utility of solutions residing on Unix based systems.
Maintain and tune Solaris and Linux OS utilizing advanced scripting techniques
Administer and maintain Apache Stronghold and other Unix Web servers
Monitor, manage, tune, and recommend improvements to system performance
Participate in identification, reporting, analysis, and resolution of system problems
Generate, document, and manage system administration scripts and COTS applications that perform various system administrative tasks
Participate in technical knowledge transfer activities, such as training other team members and/or documenting standard operating procedures
Perform operational tasks as required and/or directed
Utilize an integration and test environment for future operational system functions and capabilities
Troubleshoot and repair hardware, software and operating system issues
Perform system backup and recovery


Job Qualifications:

US Citizenship and a current active Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance is required with investigation and/or update completed within the past 5 years
A Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline with ten (10) years of progressive experience in Unix and Linux-based computer systems and operations with a minimum of at least five (5) years of practical experience.
Have the discipline to adhere to implemented process standards and security practices and procedures
Experience with systems monitoring tools, systems maintenance tools, backup and recovery , and infrastructure applications (DNS, web proxy, SMTP) are required
In addition to solid Solaris expertise, individual will also have proven experience with Redhat Linux
Ability to work as a team member, produce results under pressure, and work in a fast-paced evaluation and prototyping environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills

Position is contingent upon contract award.
