The Range Helper applies working technical knowledge in the operation and maintenance of the Remote Electronic Target System (RETS) equipment.
The Range Helper assists higher level team members by performing assigned tasks, such as:
- Fabrication, installation, and repair of range targets
- Reparing or modifying simple electrical equipment
- Using tools and common test instruments
Works as a team member in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the RETS equipment.
Under supervision, performs field-test tasks, such as:
- Identifying, checking, repairing, and connecting power cables.
- Replacing damaged parts and targets
Performs grounds and facilities maintenance, as required.
Responds promptly to unexpected malfunctions or changes in range exercises.
Assists higher level team members with the preventive and corrective maintenance service on the RETS equipment.
Demonstrates basic knowledge of range operations.
Demonstrates knowledge of the layout of assigned ranges. Layout includes location of buried wires and the location of RETS equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge of quality control and quality assurance procedures used on Fort Hood ranges.
Follows established procedures to ensure achievement of quality, safety, and security standards.
Conserves government utilities.
Acts as computer operator and provides communcations for the range while assigned to the control tower after training and certification in accordance with the PRC Inc. Fort Hood Range Operations SOP.
Performs other duties as required, which may include:
- accomplishing assigned tasks in closely related fields.
- working at all field locations.
- responding to changes in work schedules, overtime, and off-hour call-ins.
- participating in formal training, on the job training, and cross training activities.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma and completion of an accredited technical school in electronics, or equivalent military training desirable. One year military or civilian work experience. Must be able to pass drug test and background investigation. Must have current Texas drivers license
