Chief Integrated Avionics Systems Architect – 183571
The Chief Architect for the Avionics market area will report functionally to the VP of Situational Awareness Systems (SAS) market area with an emphasis on providing an analytical understanding of customer/user mission utility. The Chief Architect will provide oversight across all pursuits within the Avionics market area from an architectural concept, provide knowledge of the customer and user community to the market area, provide knowledge of the overall mission objectives and ensure that these mission objectives get addressed in the market area studies and proposal products, and provide support to the overall marketeering of specific target pursuits. Specifically, the Chief Architect will be responsible for:

Understanding the Avionics customer/user community end-to-end mission needs and the implication of addressing those needs on system architecture solutions
Guiding the mission-level modeling & simulation activities within AVIONICS, assuring the customer/user needs are accurately modeled and mission utility is properly addressed in studies and proposals within the AVIONICS market area
Providing senior technical mission representation at customer and user events
Serving as the senior internal technical reviewer to ensure customer and user needs are addressed in AVIONICS study and proposal products
Working for architectural synergy across all AVIONICS backlog program, study activities, and future target pursuits
Being the technical point of contact for cross-sector initiatives within the AVIONICS market area

Finally, the AVIONICS Chief Architect will work closely with the Director of Business Development to continue to grow the mission domain knowledge and modeling & simulation capability depth and breadth across different customers.

Background Required

Requires twenty to twenty-five years experience in mission and system engineering. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the AVIONICS market area, including the customer and user community, the near-term and long-term target pursuits within the market area, and the enabling technologies to support satisfaction of the users needs. Technical breadth across all system engineering disciplines (mission to product-level) as well as across all programs phases (concept development to operations) is desirable.

Advanced degree in Engineering or Science. Current SSBI required for position. Essential skills and characteristics
Ability to interact with program/IPT management and market area leads
Ability to interact with ES-NSD executives
Ability to interact with users and customers
Ability to develop architectural solutions addressing users needs
Capable of mentoring junior engineers
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
