Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Communications Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Landover, MD. A current, active TS/SCI w/CI poly required to be considered for this position.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Provide remotemaintenance, troubleshooting and repair for a Wide Area Network (WAN) to include, routers, bridges, switches, Video Teleconferencing units, and VoIP systems from a Help Desk.
* Perform tests with multiple tech controls and implement scheduled upgrades to the network to include router configurations, .
* Will be crossed trained, if necessary, on the Client and Server systems and perform remote maintenance, troubleshooting and repair
* Shift will be either second or third shift to include weekends.
* Excellent customer service skills and the ability to capture customer calls in a Trouble Ticket system.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
* Bachelors degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. Four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelors degree (total relevant experience equal to 6 years) or two (2) years of relevant experience plus an Associates Degree may be substituted for the Bachelors Degree (total relevant experience equal to 4 years)
* A current, active TS/SCI w/CI poly required to be considered for this position
* 2 years Experience with CISCO routers and switches, CSU/DSU's, and Modems
* Must be capable of providing on-call, after hours support if the need arises (compensated)
* Excellent customer service skills and the ability to capture customer calls in a Trouble Ticket system
* Position requires a current TS/SCI w/ CI Poly Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
* Knowledge of Sun Server, RAID, UPS, Tape Drives, and Macintosh clients
* Knowledge of Bridging, AppleTalk, ISDN, TCP/IP SNMP, and Remedy
