Northrop Grumman Information Systems is seeking a Network Engineer Level-3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Woodlawn, Maryland.

Emphasis is on configuration, installations and upgrades of Cisco switches in Baltimore and at remote field offices. Some travel to federal and state government locations within the continental USA may be required. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Health IT business unit working at the Social Security Administration headquarter campus in Baltimore, Maryland. The subject network is of unprecedented scale; 2 data centers, 6 large regional operating centers, 1,500 field offices, 19 foreign service posts, 80 extranet customers, 2,700 Cisco MPLS routers, 6,200 Cisco Catalyst switches and 64,000 workstations nationwide.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Surveys network requirements for campus buildings and remote field offices.
* Define equipment, cables, adapters and configurations needed to upgrade campus buildings and/or remote field offices to established SSA configuration standards.
* Configure Cisco Catalyst switches for mass deployment projects.
* Negotiate installation date/time with customer and engage field installation contractors.
* Assemble required equipment, cables, adapters, etc. and arrange delivery for installation.
* Remotely manage field installation contractors while they are on-site and provide all technical details to complete installations.
* Plan and implement configuration/feature changes on Cisco routers and switches.
* Plan and implement network moves adds and changes in data centers and Baltimore HQ campus.
* Continually review customer's configuration and practices looking for opportunities to improve network functionally, performance and reliability.
* Assist in the evaluation of potential network products or technical solutions.
* Test and evaluate potential new versions of Cisco IOS software.
* Contribute to the development of network documentation, including diagrams, standards, specifications and operating procedures.
* Perform on-going management of network installation and upgrade projects. Maintain installation schedules, maintain service request tickets and provide weekly status reports.
* Periodically provide third-level support and troubleshooting for network problems.
* Periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.
* Maintain and expand expertise/credentials in network technologies, especially Cisco certifications.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
* 5 years of overall experience, and 3 years of hands-on experience with network engineering and installation of Cisco equipment required
* United States Citizenship or permanent residence status

* Must be able to obtain a federal government Public Trust level security clearance.
* Hands-on experience with LAN technologies such as Ethernet, wireless LANs and associated cabling.
* Hands-on experience with TCP/IP operation and IP routing protocol configuration.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
* Cisco certifications - Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or higher.
* Hands-on experience configuring and installing Cisco switches and routers.
