Analyze data and plan sequence of tooling operations on a number of small and large manual and CNC / DNC vertical and horizontal milling, drilling, broaching, boring, and turning machines. Develop tooling for machined parts with numerous
operational steps, specific dimensions and where requirements to exact tolerances of finish, perpendicularity, concentricity and parallelism may be limited.
Work with process engineering, programmers, and product specialist to deliver solutions, define part process and tooling requirements thereby achieving the highest quality parts at the lowest cost to the customer.
Provide correct machine tool and process recommendations.
Apply the correct cutting tools, feed rate, spindle speed, material and grade specifications.
Technical knowledge of carbide grades, coatings, hones, modes of failure, and corrective actions.
Participate in developing and defining complete process for components by implementing "cutting edge" technologies and application solutions using special and standard tool designs.
Confer with Suppliers by conveying tooling specifications.
Provide manufacturing support by troubleshooting and resolving technical problems.
Have sound knowledge in Geometric Tolerances.
Provide support of Continuous Improvement efforts.
The successful candidate will work with Manufacturing Engineers, Process Engineers, Programmers and Manufacturing Personnel by supporting the Manufacturing Machining areas for the Marine Launcher, Propulsion and Power Generation product lines.
Swing shift, off-shift or weekend support may be required. Up to 25% travel may be required for the position.
