Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Engineer Network 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Chester, Virginia.
Where Technology and Teamwork come together to manage a complex MPLS network. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) Program, which is a 10 year, $2B program, responsible for providing end-to-end IT Infrastructure to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.
* Perform complex troubleshooting of routing and switching platforms and demonstrate strong problem analysis and resolution skills.
* Maintain technical expertise in all areas of LAN/ WAN networking such as routers, switching, wireless and underlying protocols and propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
* Draft appropriate network support documentation including operational instructions. Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.
* Assist in the network design or portion of network that includes selection of hardware and software packages.
* Mentor other operations staff and provide leadership on complex technical challenges and be accountable to customer concerns while addressing an outage or incident.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
* CCNA or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
* 9 Years with Bachelors in Science
* Three - Five years of LAN/WAN Network Engineering experience installing, maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment including Cisco routers and switches
* Three - Five years of Network Engineering experience with network protocols including TCP/IP, EIGRP, UDP, DHCP, SMTP, and FTP
* Three years of experience designing, configuration, and testing prototype network configurations prior to installation.
* Three years of experience troubleshooting and resolving network anomalies on an operational network.
* Three years of experience with MSOffice applications.
* Some travel will be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
* Cisco certifications
* Prior VITA Program Network Experince desirable
* Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
