Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. May oversee one or more jobs. Inspects, repairs, maintains and modifies equipment of specialty. Specialties in a single trade area include those that maybe certified as Welder, Pipe fitter, Brazier, Universal A/C&R Mechanic or Electrician and those that use or operate specialized equipment including riggers, sheet metal workers and painters or specialized coating applicators.

Supervises others and manages one or more multiple jobs. Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. Performs a variety of complicated and non routine tasks. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

Skills:
Ability to supervise others and manage one or more multiple jobs. Ability to oversee, schedule and assign tasks for one or more jobs. Applies high level skills of specialty trades functions and tools. Ability to interface with external customers and communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to use of basic hand tools, portable power tools, and tools of specialty. Ability to perform multiple tasking and meet critical deadlines.

Education/Experience:
HS education or Trade School + 10 years of related experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 20 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.

Position Specific Skills:

Machinist experience in operating manual and CNC type lathes and milling machines. Able to operate drill presses, band saws, engraving equipment, hydraulic press, electroplating equipment,etc. Ability to use calibrated measuring tools to machine parts for general shop use, valves, pumps and motor rewind. Able to read and produce parts from Navsea type drawings. Prior US Navy experience as a Machinery Repairman (MR) a plus.
Ability to work with and train US Navy customer personnel in operating above equipment safely.
Able to work in a large industrial environment including limited exposure to sanding and blast grit dust, paint, welding fumes and other Hazmat / Hazwaste products.
Meet OSHA requirements to qualify and operate a forklift and scissor lift. Pass annual physical and fit test to wear a respirator. Successfully complete annual audiogram testing. Willing to work a modified work schedule as directed by supervisors.
Pass security screening process to obtain a US Government Common Access Card (CAC).
Must be able to communicate operational and safety procedures to US Navy personnel and document training via ACCESS database. Basic computer skills in MS WORD and EXCELL required.
